I thought I would change things up a bit and use Mondays to reflect on some amazing places or memories I have had the pleasure of enjoying…as seen through the eyes of my husband. My husband is also a physician with an artistic eye. Since I have known him, he has always photographed everything and anything. However, two children and a busy career have pushed those opportunities to the side. I wish he had more time to dabble in these artistic pursuits. I think it is good for our souls to be able to engage in art or anything we derive joy from for the sake of creativity and the sake of our sanity.
I know this has nothing to do with pediatric health or research which I usually blog about, but I wanted to use Mondays as a way to kick off each week with a moment of self-reflection. In all the chaos of every day life–balancing motherhood and a full career, it is that much more important to be able to step back and be present in the moment. I have chatted about mindfulness with other bloggers, such as Niki from The Richness of a Simple Life who has been blogging about her meditation practice among the many insightful posts she shares.
So for our first “Mindful Monday” post, I am sharing a photograph taken during our second trip to France in celebration of our 10 year anniversary. We were fortunate to have eager and willing grandparents to care for our children so we could get away and enjoy. This photograph was taken in the Loire Valley.
This photograph invites you to look beyond the walls and outward towards the vast beyond. To see the beauty all around us and reflect upon the possibilities every day brings. I am grateful for having been able to visit this lovely chateau and look upon the countryside below.
What do you think of when you look at this photograph? What possibilities does it make you daydream about? How does this make you feel as you head into another week?
